XAT 2010 Post Exam Analysis

XAT 2010 analysis:

The XAT 2010 paper conisted of three sections. The section breakup was:



VA section
The questions of VA section varied from tough to moderately tough. Most of the passages were short but the questions that followed were not straight forward. There was a transcript was from the movie matrix which the lengthiest passage of the section and the question which followed were moderately difficult. Another passage based on Kantian philosophy was somewhat difficult and the questions were mostly inferential. Then were three to four passages having one question each. There were two para-jumbles with one being doable and other one somewhat difficult.  Two questions were on closely related words and two questions were based on directly vocabulary. A reasonable attempt in this section would be 22-23 questions.Overall the cut-off in VA should be 12-14 marks.

Reasoning and Decision Making:

This section was relatively the toughest section of the paper.  The LR questions were quite time taking and data-centric.There were 4 sets in LR section with two being relatively simpler and two being quite difficult to do in the given time standards. The decision making questions were relatively simpler. A reasonable attempt in this section would be 14-15 questions. The cut-off of this section should be around 7-8 marks.

Data Interpretation and Quantitative Ability:

The Quant and DI section too was moderately tough though there were a few questions which could be solved easily.

There were three sections of of DI which were more or less doable with slight calculations.  Rest of the questions were from QA. Apart from a couple of questions. one based on similar triangles and other on percentage. One set having two questions on AP and straight lines was also doable.  Other questions varied from being tough to moderately tough and attempt of 15 questions should be a reasonable one. The estimated cut-off should be 8-9 marks.
