Personal Interview
Posted by Top Coaching Experts
In contrast to a GD, PI is more personal in nature. Broadly there are four basic areas on which one may be quizzed in an interview.
Academic Knowledge.
One has to have a very good knowledge of the subject in which he has majored during graduation.
Extracurricular Activities:
One must be able to present his / her strong interest in at least one or two extra-curricular activities. People with a sporting background have a clear advantage! You must have a vast knowledge of that subject.
Personal Attributes:
This is probably the most difficult part to handle in an interview, but most easy to prepare. Questions like: ‘Introduce yourself’, ‘Why Management?’, ‘What are your career goals?’, are very general questions but need proper preparation, because at times candidates can get into the trap of the interviewers. Answers to such questions should be well prepared.
Current Affairs:
One has to be extremely good at current affairs. You should not only know about a news item, but also understand and be able to analyze the event well.
SOME GENERAL INTERVIEW TIPS
1. Be smart and formally dressed.
2. Sit straight and have a positive body language. Maintain constant eye contact with all the panel members.
3. Be honest. Do not bluff about the answers you do not know. You will be caught.
4. Carry a folder of your certificates and other important documents. Please do not keep this folder on your lap during the interview. Take your panel’s permission to keep it on the table in front of you.
5. Be polite. Do not start arguing about your viewpoint
6. Give precise, to the point and specific answers. Do not make general statements. Back up your answers with facts and examples.
7. Have a good background knowledge about the institute for which interview is being conducted.
