What is the differencebetween "Union Minister" and "minister of state" for eg. Is sachin Pilot -only the mininister of state in Rajasthan or was he elected from Rajasthan??

Answer Explanation

In Indian governmental system, there are three categories of ministers, in descending order of rank:

1. Union Cabinet Minister - He is the senior minister in-charge of a ministry. A
cabinet minister may also hold additional charges of other Ministries,
where no other Cabinet minister is appointed.

2. Minister of State (Independent Charge) - with no overseeing Union
cabinet minister for that portfolio.

3. Minister of State (MoS) - He is junior minister with an overseeing cabinet
minister, usually tasked with a specific responsibility in that
ministry. For instance, an MoS in the Finance Ministry may only handle
taxation.

Sachin Pilot is elected from Ajmer Constituency, Rajasthan but that does not mean that he is minister of state in Rajasthan only.
From above given definition, you can easily figure out that Minister of State does not have any specific link with any state. Its only a terminology given to them.
