Answer Explanation

Writing the binomial theorem as:

Let a=b=1, thus
Sum of coefficients = 2^n

Now let a=1 and b=-1, then (1-1)ⁿ=0

On right hand side, we also notice that the even powers of b will be positive and the odd powers will be negative.

Hence, the sum of the coefficients of the odd terms is always equal to the sum of the coefficients of the even terms, when n is a positive integer.

sum of the coefficients of the odd terms = sum of the coefficients of the even terms = (2^n)/2 = 2^(n-1)
